Influensaviruset angriper epitelceller i luftveiene
Spreding uten Relenza:
Nye virus dannes og spres. Enzymet neuraminidase fremmer frisettingen av nydannede virus fra infiserte celler.
Ingen spredning med Relenza:
Relenza er en selektiv neuraminidasehemmer og hindrer frisetting av nye influenzavirus.
Relenza virker lokalt i luftveiene
- Relenza stopper spredningen av influensaviruset der viruset angriper og formerer seg - i luftveiene3,4.
- Relenza inhaleres direkte til luftveiene via Diskhaler og effektiv konsentrasjon av zanamivir oppnås etter få sekunder7.
