*EXacerbation Control Evaluated in a 6month Long study A 24-week, randomised, double blind, double dummy, parallel group, multicentre study comparing exacerbation rates on SFC and FBC in persistent asthmatics on 500 - 1000ug/day FP or equivalent.

Formål:

Sammenligne effekten av Seretide Diskus 50/250 µg 1 x 2 med budesonide/formoterol 160/4,5 µg 2 x 2 med moderat til alvorlig astma.

Konklusjon:

Bedring i lungefunksjon og symptomer var lik i begge grupper. I en post hoc analyse av eksaserbasjoner ble det vist en signifikant intervall-effekt: Seretide ga færre eksaserbasjoner over tid sammenlignet med budesonide/formoterol.
